How many of us would love to have the shiniest and healthiest hair possible? How many of us have bought various lotions and potions in the quest for said healthy hair? All of us?

Nowadays, there are many companies that sell products which promise us of luscious hair if we use them. However, it has to be said that what you eat is most important of all. Hair that is alive is invisible to the human eye. It is inside us. Therefore our diet is very important. What we eat has a direct effect on the condition of our hair. So it goes without saying, if you want beautiful hair, you’ve got to eat healthy.

Which leads me to the next part. I’m bringing you a list of the top 5 foods for healthy hair. Many of you may already eat these on a regular basis. Great. If you don’t, give them a try and you will notice a difference.

What can’t I say about salmon. Salmon is just an all rounder. It has such rich nutrient content that it provides many benefits for the human body. The fatty acids which salmon contains is necessary for hair to shine day and night and you don’t want to miss out on that. So if you want to get beautiful shiny locks, you may want to take a trip to the fishmonger.

As part of our daily diet we should all be eating nutrient rich foods that are healthy for our bodies. All healthy foods have benefits for hair, but nuts are a top food when it comes to hair care. Although they may be small don’t be fooled by their size. Nuts are bursting with unsaturated fatty acids (the good fats) which provide our hair with the essential vitamins and nutrients.

3. Green Leafy Vegetables

There is a reason why green vegetables are at the top of many lists. These vegetables are absolutely bursting with vitamins and minerals. They are high in iron which helps prevent your hair from becoming weak and they also help keep your scalp moisturised. What’s not to love about them?

Have any of you ever visited a Mediterranean country and noticed how so many of the girls have beautiful long, shiny hair. I lived in Spain for 3 years and pretty much every Spanish girl I saw had beautiful hair. I asked many of them what their secret was and they said their shiny locks were attributed to olive oil. Olive oil plays a very prominent role in Mediterranean cuisine. It not only adds taste to so many delectable dishes but it is also very beneficial to the human body. Olive oil can improve our health, our hair and our lives in so many ways. It is rich in monounsaturated fats and moisturising properties. Olive oil can reduce dandruff and reduce split ends. Whether you digest it or undergo an olive oil hair treatment it can strengthen and shine your hair as well as softening your hair to touch. And last but not least we have coconut. Coconut water is a great natural hydration aid and the oil itself is full of Vitamins E, K and essential minerals. What more needs to be said. Try it. You will see a difference.
